The Agricultural Market Intelligence Centre has started functioning in Kerala Agricultural University under the National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP). The Centre was formally inaugurated on October 12th 2009 by Sri. Rajaji Mathew Thomas, MLA and Member, Executive Committee, KAU.For more deatils click here. b. KAU The Kerala Agricultural University is the primary and the principal instrumentality of the Kerala State in providing human resources, and skills and technology, required for the sustainable development of its agriculture, defined broadly encompassing all production activities based on land and water, including crop production (agriculture), animal husbandry, forestry and fishery through conducting, interfacing and integrating education, research and extension in these spheres of economic endeavour. c. Directorate of Marketing and Inspection The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) headed by the Agricultural Marketing Advisor to the Government of India, Department of Agriculture & Co-operation (DAC) implements agricultural marketing policies and programmes of the Government of India. d. Department of Agriculture, Marketing This department deals with the formulation and implementation of various programmes to augment production of both food crops and cash crops in the State. It undertakes activities among farmers to promote scientific methods of cultivation plant protection etc. and also arranges the supply of high yielding varieties of seeds, seedlings, planting materials and plant protection chemicals to farmers. For more details click here. e.Farm Information Bureau.Government of Kerala(FIB) FIB is a single nodal agency to provide complete information support to accelerate the extension and development activities of the department of agriculture, Animal husbandry and dairy development. The bureau takes up the publicity and propaganda works of these departments to help the farming community in availing various benefits offered by the government. This bureau works as a link between research station and farming community by disseminating scientific knowledge to the farmers. This is to analyze problems and implement solutions and to be the farmer’s voice on issues important to rural families. f.IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited The Indian Farmers Fertilizer Co-operative Ltd. (IFFCO) established its rural information and telecommunication subsidiary, called lffco Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL). The subsidiary is contemplating utilizing Airtel's existing telecom network to extend information associated with agriculture to farmers. g.Spices Board Spices Board (Ministry of Commerce, Government of India) is the flagship organization for the development and worldwide promotion of Indian spices. The Board is an international link between the Indian exporters and the importers abroad. The Board has been spearheading activities for excellence of Indian spices, involving every segment of the industry. The Board has made quality and hygiene the corner stones for its development and promotional strategies. h.Coconut Development Board Coconut Development Board (CDB) is a statutory body established under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India for the integrated development of coconut cultivation and industry in the country with focus on productivity increase and product diversification.
